LEGION CANDIDATES
Hospital Board Members FIVE NAMES SELECTED e The following members of the New Zealand Legion, supporting its main principles, have been selected as candidates for election as Wellington repre'sentatives on the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board: Messrs. F. Castle, Clarence Meachen, J. C. Riddell, Mrs. K. Preston and Miss Amy G. Kane. With the exception of Mr. Meachen all are present members of the board. Mr. Meachen is secretary of the Wellington Children’s Health Camp Association and of the St. John Ambulance Assoeiatioh. He is an associate of the New Zealand Institute of Secretaries. He was recently appointed president of the New Zealand Pioneers, an organisation formed to inculcate ideas of citizenship and an active interest in political matters among young people.
“In selecting candidates the national executive has kept in.view experience and capacity for the particular work of local bodies as well as ability to further the general campaign for local body reform,” was the comment in a statement issued yesterday by the New Zealand Legion. “While definitely not nominating candidates for the whole of the vacancies occurring, the executive may consider it desirable to supplement the names which are now being published.”
