Mrs. James Hume and her family, who have been touring in the North Island, have returned to Karehana Bay, Plimmertou.

Mrs. P. C. Hjorring, Dunedin, who is visiting Wellington, will sail on Friday by the Monowai for Sydney to connect with the Orford, for England. Miss E. M. Reynolds, Christchurch, who returned from Sydney by the Monowai, is spending a few days at Wellington before returning home. Mrs. R. G. Howard-Vyse, wife of the ehief-of-staff to the Duke of Gloucester, will leave New Zealand by the Akaroa to-day on her return journey to England.

The New Zealand Women's Association held an “at home” at Grosvenor House, London, on January 24, to meet Lady Galway, prior to her departure for New Zealand.

Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Wilson, Geneva, who have spent some weeks at Christchurch, arrived at Wellington, where they will stay about 10 days before sailing on their return to Europe, on Sunday morning. Mrs. Frank Scott, Christchurch, is paying a'short visit to Havelock North, after which she will spend a few weeks at Lower Hutt, where she will be the guest of Mrs. Fosber Handyside. New Ze.alanders at Edinburgh were to hold a New Zealand Day dinner at Overseas House, Princes Street, yesterday. The organiser was Mr. E. L. Cooksey.

FOR HOMES OF COMPASSION One of the outstanding entertainments last year was the recital—story, song and dance—given by pupils of Miss Gracie Kerr and those ’of Miss Dorothy Daniels. Many people would like an opportunity of seeing a repeat recital, and the Island Bay committee, as one of the units organising the Garden Party to be held at the Home of Compassion, Island Bay, on February 16, has been fortunate enough to arrange with Miss Kerr and Miss Daniels for such a recital to be given in the Brougham Street Assembly Hall this evening, the whole of the proceeds to go to the Homes of Compassion. Details are advertised on another page.
