Friends of Soviet
Sir, —The Bev. Fielden Taylor has found it necessary to publish a statement denying that his recent talk to the Friends of the* Soviet Union implied atheistic views, as has been stated in certain quarters. We are glad that he has made this statement, since it will help break down, some of the misunderstanding which exists as regards our organisation. The Rev. Mr. Taylor was invited to give the first of a series of lectures on “What I think about the Soviet Union,” in which the speaker is perfectly free to express whatever views on the subject lie may choose.’Furthermore, membership of the Friends of the Soviet Union is yery far from implying atheistic views. Our organisation is a broad movement of all friends of the Soviet Union, regardless of their political or religious views.—l am, etc., S. G. WATSON, Acting National Secretary, Friends of Soviet Union. Wellington, February 5.
