TRAMS TO MELROSE
Long-Awaited Extension
In 1920, according to a statement issued by the Melrose Ratepayers and Electors’ Association, the ratepayers of Wellington sanctioned a loan of £12.900 for tramway extensions from the Zoo to Melrose. The proposed work, however, was not gone on with. At a recent meeting of the association it was decided “to protest and vote against any further loans being raised until such time as the loan sane tinned ... in 1920 is raised and the work carried out.”
