BOXING FAREWELL
Tributes to Mr. A. G. McGowan Members of the committee of tho Wellington Boxing Association met yesterday afternoon to farewell Mr. A, G. McGowan, who is shortly to leave on a trip to England. Mr. A. Jacobs, chairman of the committee, said that the Wellington Boxing Association had a great deal for which to thank Mr. McGowan, and he also tendered his personal thanks to Mr. McGowan for tho way in which he had always assisted the committee in its work for boxing. On behalf of the members of the committee he wished Mr. McGowan, Mrs, McGowan, and Miss McGowan bon voyage, good health, and a safe return. Similar sentiments were expressed by Messrs, B, A. Guise, L. Salek, W. G. Talbot, D, Kean, G. A. Broad, and A. Curtayne. In reply Mr. McGowan said that his connection with the boxing association had been one round of pleasure, and ho could never have worked with any better fellows. He was granted leave of absence until tho annual meeting of the association, with tho.jjght of renomination for the next year.
