KILBIRNIE SPEEDWAY
After many weeks of preparation, the Kilbirnie speedway will be reopened on Saturday night. The programme will commence at 8 o’clock, and the management has been successful in arranging for the appearance of the Australian international Test riders Lionel Van Praag and Dick Case. These speedsters of the cinder track have represented Australia in Test matches against England for the past three years, and their performances in the recent Australia-England matches held at Sydney and Melbourne stamp them as riders who rank among the world’s best. Appearing. against these Australian internationals 'in a series of tests ,will be the well-known Auckland star, Alf. Matson, holder of the onemile cinder championship of New Zealand, and noted for his exceptional skill qnd daring. Teams racing will also have an important place, in the pip-
gramme, in connection with which a league championship event is being held. The contests on Saturday night will be between teams representing City and Newtown, captained by Clarrie Tonka -XCitrl and Petes Phillips (Newtown)* s
