Ministerial. Tlie lit. Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Finance, left AVelliugton last evening in the inter-island steamer express on an official visit to Dunedin, where he will meet representative business men interested in the forthcoming legislation dealing with mortgage finance. The Minister was accompanied by Professor H. Belshaw, economic adviser to tlie Government, and Dr. AV. B. Sutch, economics secretary. Mr. Coates, who will discuss mortgage finance with Canterbury mon on Saturday, will return to Wellington next Sunday. The Hon. S. G. Smith, Minister of Education, after an official visit to Auckland during last week-end, returned to New Plymouth where, last evening, he was tendered a civic reception. He returns to Wellington this afternoon. The Hon. J. Bltchencr, Minister of Public Works, is due in Wellington this morning from tlie South Island. Tlie Hon. Sir Charles Statham, Speaker of the House of Representatives, is expected to reach Wellington this morning from Dunedin. The Hon. C. J. N. Findlay, of Dunedin, arrived by yesterday morning’s steamer express from Lyttelton. Mr. 11. A. Beauchamp, managing director, Kodak New Zealand, Ltd., left last evening on a business visit to Dunedin. Mr. F. J. 11. Ellisdon. Pickles, of the staff of tlie West. Christchurch School, arrived in Wellington yesterday to join the Wanganella for Sydney, where he will serve on exchange for a year. The Rev. F. 11. Taylor, who has been in charge of the Greytown Presbyterian Church for the past two or three years, has received notice of his transfer to Stewart Island. The Rev. G: T. Brown, formerly of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Palmerston North, who went to Scotland last year, has been called to St. Columba’s Church, Brechin, Scotland. The Rev. G. 51. McKenzie, who was appointed head master of the Cathedral Grammar School in succession to the Rev. E. Edmonds, has arrived in Christchurch and has taken up residence at the school. Mr. A. McGowan, manager in New Zealand for Australasian Films (N.Z.), Ltd., will leave on a visit to England by the Akaroa on February 6. Mr. AV. E. G. I'aqualin, formerly of Wanganui, has taken up his duties as manager of Ihe Palmerston North branch of the Union Bank of Australia, Ltd. Mr. J. M. .Saunders leaves on Monday for Christchurch to take over tlie managership of the branch there. Dr. C. M. Bevan-Brown, a Harley Street specialist, whose father was Mr. C. E. Bevan-Brown, for 37 years head master of the Christchurch Boys’ High School, is spending several weeks in Christchurch with his mother. It is 12 years since Dr. Bevan-Brown last visited New Zealand.
