Contest For Ranfurly Cup CLOSING DAY AT HUTT The annual competition for the Ranfurly Cup, a foursome bogey event, was held by the Wellington Golf Club on Saturday afternoon, and resulted in a win for 11. P. F. Blundell and P. W. Blundell, with 3 up. Then followed J. B. Parker and V. G. Rhind, all square; J. D. G, Dunean and G. 11. Swann, 2 down; ! N, Gibbons and R. Welton-Hogg. 3 •down; and J. W. Ward and D. G. Marchbanks, 4 down. Hutt Club The’Hutt club closed the winter season with a mixed fourball competition on Saturday afternoon. Miss Lees and W. H. Lees, sen., were the winners, with the fine score of 7 up on bogey, and won the trophy donated by Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Rathbone. Next week-end the first round of the Summer Cup will be played. Titahi Club A handicap bogey competition on the Titahi links on Saturday saw R. Caughley and J. Gichard tie, Caughley winning the play-off. A stroke competition. was won by A, Moore, w-ith 78-12-66, T. Dodson coming next with 89-18-71. A fourball best-ball event, was won by C. Swinburn and T. H. S, Gyles, with 4 up. A. Lulham and F. B. Carr came next, with 3 up. . ( In the semi-final for the Gyles trophy, S. Childs beat T. Burgess, 3 up. In the semi-final of the Stone-Alward Cup competition, P. Kennedy beat J. Ferguson, 4 and 2. lu the President’s Cup competition, ,1. Williams beat J. A. R. Blandford, 1 up. In the final of the Desert Gold mixed foursome competition, Mr. and Mrs. D. Crombie beat T. Dodson and Miss Cooney. Tiie Mcllraith fourball best-ball mixed competition will be played on Saturday, and, in view of the large entry, players are requested to be ready to start at noon.

Manor Park Club In the semi-final of the Manor Park club’s senior championship competition, F. Page beat A. G. Radford, 5 and 3, and I. V. O. Duncan beat J. Stewart at the nineteenth. The final over 36 holes, will be played next week-end. The final for the junior championship, over 36 holes, was won by B. Yates, who beat H. Sherwood, 3 and 2. In the two-life competition, A. Radford (8) and J. Ogilvie (5) beat B. Butler (12) and E. Peterson (14), 2 up. F. Page (2) and J. Barnard (8) beat C. Quinnell (14) and H. Pope, 3 and 1. A senior bogey competition was won by D. A flag match held by the .Manor Park ladies’ club at the week-end was keenly contested. No fewer than eight players were left with strokes after the 18 holes had been played. , Miss Murtagh, the whiner, carried tile flag to the twentieth green. The best senior L.G.U. scores were: Miss Fairbrother, 85-13-72; Miss Marshall, 87-13-74; Miss Bray, 89-13-76. Mrs. Sherwood and Miss Marshall tied for the L.G.U. silver medal for 1934, with an aggregate of 300. and will play off next week-end. The best junior L.G.U. scores were:— Miss Murtagh. 93-28-65; Miss Yorston. 90-19-71; Mrs. Haslam, 105-33-72; Miss King, 1)5-21-74; Miss Nash. 99-24-75; Mrs. Barker, 104-27-77. The winner of the L.G.U. bronze medal was Miss Murtagh, with 296 for the aggregate of the four best scores. In the final of the junior championship. Miss Mchaffey beat Miss Murtagh, 2 up. In the semi-final of the fourball competition, Miss Fairbrother and Miss Bi’-iy beat Mrs. Haslam and Mrs. Radford, 4 and 3. A medal round was won by Miss M. Butler, with 74 net, and a fourball bestball bogey by Miss Stevens and Miss Kerr, 7 up. Shandon Ladies’ Club An L.G.U. medal round played by the Shandon ladies’ elub at the week-end was won by Miss Robinson, with 87-13-74. The next best scorers were: Miss Vallancc, 103-28-75. and Miss Read, 97-19-78. Miss Robinson also won the hiddenholes competition, and took the trophy donated by Miss Oughton. The following matches in connection with the championship were played during the week-end: Miew Robinson beat Miss Smith. Miss Sidford beat Mrs. Burke. In the semi-final. Miss Sidford beat Miss Ellison, and Miss Robinson beat Miss Walker. In the final, Miss Robinson beat Miss Sidford. Miss Robinson also won the- L.G.U. silver medal, and Miss Sidford the bronze medal. Mrs. Wallace Johnston won the Burke Cup for approaching an<l putting. The Ringer competition for the season was won by Mrs. Burke. 7L7-64, Miss Robinson being next with 70-5-65. Shandon Club

Rotherham (6), 1 up; C. Hollis (4) and P. Burke (8), all square. A long-driving competition was won by R. Comerford. In a fourball event. J. Taylor (8) and W. Murie (9) mid G. Rotherham (6) and P. Burke (8} tied with 3 up. The championship finals (over 36 boles) resulted as follow: — Senior: D. M. Boyd beat W. R. Tustin. 3 and 2. Boyd played very consist-' e-itly throughout. Intermediate: E.
