Seeking to prohibit the engagement by public bodies of Government or superannuated officials in receipt of pensions of more than £3OO a year, a remit from 1 Otago came before the Harboiir Boards Conference this morning, and after discussion was defeated. Mr. E. J. Howard, M.P., chairman of the Lyttelton Harbour Board, said he agreed with the 1 remit, but thought it was rather dangerous, as -he considered that the’wording would not express what the conference meant.
