Forecast: Variable winds, but moderate to fresh westerly to southerly predominating. - Seas rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere moderate in New Zealand waters. , . Moderate to fresh west to south winds in the eastern Tasman Sea; seas moderate in the northern portion and rather rough in the southern portion. Weather mainly fair to cloudy, but unsettled in the southern districts of the South Island, with rain at places and showers extending also to parts of the east coast. Temperatures becoming cooler.
