CUSTOMS RETURNS

From Other Centres Following aro Customs returns from other centres as supplied by the Press. Association , (the Wellington figures were published yesterday) Auckland.— -Customs duties collected in Auckland for the ten monthstended yesterday show an increase of £308,414, or about 15 per cent, over those for the corresponding period last year; Petrol and tire duties yielded £50,588 more, an Increase of about-12 per cent. In October, Customs duties amounted to £235,197, an increase of £23,800 over the total for October, 1933. Petrol and tire duties yielded £48,803, an increase of £7731. Sales tax collections for the month were £57,215, an increase of £BlO2. The total for the past ten months is £500,755., Last year £321,743 was collected between .March 9, when the tax became operative, and November®), Excise on beer last month produced £ll,OOl, a decrease of £921. Jlowever, the total for ten months is £109,217, an increase of £5648. Christchurch— -Compared with October, 1933, net customs revenue, col-' lected at Christchurch during October shows a snbstaiitial increase.
