Work has been commenced by the Wellington city engineer’s department on the improvement of the road surfaces at several points in the suburbs. Chaytor Street (the main road to Karorl from the Karori.end of the tunnel) is being paved. Ohiro Road Is being sealed with MCI, and Rakau Road at Hataitai and the upper part of Brooklyn Road are being sealed. “WHAT! ‘BAXTER’S’ IN FRANCE?” A war-time incident was recalled recently when a member of the firm of A. and W. Baxter, Ltd., had a visitor, who referred to an occasion in France during the war, when he had asked at the canteen for something for a cold.
