To-morrow night, at flic Grand Opera House. Messm J. and N. Tait will present for the first time in Wellington the now famous Australian 12-ycar-old pianist. Philip Hargrave. The season is to be limited to four concerts. Writing ot his initial performance at Melbourne, a critic wrote: —“The audience on Saturday night at the Auditorium could but marvel and display a touching and deeply affectionate appreciation when pearly tones, gentle ami bold, gracious and sensitive, fell so readily from Philips small but serenely moving lingers. Joy mingled with a tinge of awe held the listeners and spectators spellbound U" they followed the little fellows exposition of fine ideas. Whether in Bacli, Beethoven or Chopin, the young pilgrim upon art’s precipitous pathway, finding I himself before the public, was in no wise

disconcerted, held his own, spoke a native language and proved himself possessed ot a confidence which is the sure portent of a latent authority one day to elevate him among the greatest musicians of his day.” The initial programme to-morrow night will, include:—(a) Prelude and Fugue in C Sharp Major. No. 3. Book 1. BaHi: (b) "Presto” from Italian Concerto, Bach. Sonata in C Sharp Minor ("Moonlight”), (Beethoven),. Adagio sostenuto (Beethoven), Allegretto (Beethoven), Presto agitato/Beethoven). , (a) Impromptu in B Flat, Op. 142 No. 3 (Schubert), (b) Moment Musical, in F Minor., Op. 94. No. 3 (Schubert), (a) Fautasie Impromptu in C Sharp Minor, Op. (16 (Chopin), (b) Berceuse (Chopin). (c) Etude in G Flat, Op. 25, No. !) (“Butterfly”) (Chopin). The supporting artists will iuefude the brilliant Australian baritone, J. Alexander Browne, numbers will include “Prologue’’ from “Pagliaeci.” “Do Not Go, My Love and “To-morrow.” The accompanist is Mr. Gordon Short. «
