Blomfield” was his wife’s. Lily May Balenzuela, aged 24, was charged with making a false passport declaration. The evidence showed that Blomfleic* had been separated from his wife for five years, and that he was paying her £2/10/- maintenance, which was paid up. He had a five months’ wrestling contract in America, and admitted that he proposed taking his lady friend with him. and that to simplify their entry to America he described her as his wife to overcome the difficulty of finding the necessary 1000 dollars bond. He said be had no intention of evading maintenance payments, and had entered into a bond of £2OO that the payments would be kept up durlug his absence.

The Magistrate (Mr. F. K. Hunt), who expressed the opinion that there was no reason why the young woman should not call herself L. Blomfield if she wished, said that there was no need to deal with the case too strictly. He reduced the charge to one of attempted false pretences, and fined Blomfield £2. The woman was convicted and discharged on payment of £B/5/- for the wife's expenses as a witness.
