MISS GAISFORD LOSES GOLF FINAL
Australian Championship MRS. ROBINSON GIVES SUPERB DISPLAY By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received September 11, 9.40 p.m.) Sydney, September 11. Finishing the morning round in the final of the Australian associates’ golf championship all square with the New Zealand star. Miss B. Gaisford, Mrs. C. Robinson (Sydney) played superbly in the afternoon, and at the thirty-first had a commanding lead of four up, go-
ing on to win by 4 aud 3. Ideal weather favoured the match, which was witnessed by about 1500 people. Miss Gaisford played faultlessly prior to going to lunch, but during the afternoon she had the misfortune on a number of occasions either to land in rain-filled bunkers or lip the holes with her putts, and Mrs. Robinson’s play being of such a high standard, Miss Gaisford could not afford to make slips. Miss Gaisford consistently outdrove her opponent. Both played their seconds and approaches beautifully. Mrs. Robinson, however, frequently had an advantage on the greens.
