Wintry Conditions in Wellington
A strong southerly wind to gale force was experienced throughout the day at Wellington yesterday, and the weather was cloudy and very cold #ith occasional heavy showers. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 42.2 degrees, and the maximum during the day was 42.3 degrees. Overcast weather with cold conditions prevailed at Palmerston North. Wintry conditions were experienced at Masterton. There was a strong and very cold southerly wind, accompanied by heavy rain showers throughout the day. A bitterly cold, boisterous day was experienced nt Wanganui with occasional showers. Fine weather was experienced at Auckland, but the sky was overcast and theatening, and a moderate somberly wind made conditions cold. The barometer rose to 29.85 in. It was overcast and cold at Christchurch with a moderate south-west breeze and some rain. The barometer was steady at 30.17 in. Fine, sunny weather and a Hgni easterly breeze prevailed at Dunedin, but the conditions wore cold in the shade. The thermometer registered 50 degrees nt midday, aud the maximum temperature for the day WBR ' “ degrees.
