Long before 8 o’clock the theatre was packed to overflowing and the enthusiasm which was displayed by the audience during the performance and after it had finished is without a precedent. At the final fall of the curtain Miss Welling was cheered again and again, and the talented actress responded with a speech of thanks for the reception given to herself and lo her fellow;nrtists and the opera. “The Dubarr.v” ran for 200 performances in Melbourne, beating its Sydney run by a few nights only.
