Wanganui Eight’s Visit to Australia SELECTION OF SCULLER Correspondence received from the Melbourne Amateur Regatta Association at last evening’s meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association, stated that the Henley (Melbourne) regatta this year would be held on Saturday, Nove.mber 3, and would be among the functions attended 'by the Duke of Gloucester. It was also stated that a crew would compete from the London Rowing Club, and would arrive |at Melbourne on September 2-4. This i will be the first occasion on which an English crew will have visited Australia. | although efforts have been made to bring about such a visit over the past 50 years. The secretary of the N.Z.A.R.A., Mr. A. D. Bayfield, intimated that the Melbourne association had approved of th? crew submitted by the Union club, of ''angantii, to compete at Henley. They had expressed their willingness to compete at the Victoria Kou’ing Association’s regatta on October 2i. Healey (6), C. A. Healey (7), A. Tonics (stroke), P. Hartshomi (cox). Mr. W. G. Combs will accompany the crew as coach. Mr. E. J. Crotty will be manager. M. Luxford will travel as reserve oar. It was decided to allow the Wanganui erew to use the New Zealand Amateur 1 Rowing Association's best eight-oared racing boat. The following nominations wore received for a senior sculler to represent New Zealand at the idonlcy regatta, Melbourne:—R. Smith, Waitemata club, Auckland, and P. Abbott, Petone. It was decided to forward lioth nominations to the Melbourne association. In ' the event of only one nomination being accepted, it was decided that Smith be • the representative.
