FREE DISTRIBUTION
Milk and Butter for / Workless Bv Telegraph.—Press Association. Hamilton, August 22. A proposal for free distribution of milk and butter to the unemployed was endorsed at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Co-operative- Dairy Company. The following motion was passed: ‘“That this meeting suggests to the Government that milk and butter be issued to unemployed families free, the cost to be met from the Consolidated Fund and the unemployment fund on a fifty-fifty basis; that vouchers be issued with short-term validity through the labour bureau, and that the business be done through the usual trade channels.” “All these ideas of markets outside while our own people are in want is beating the air,” said Mr. R. C. Clark (Pnerata), who seconded the motion. “This is a fine measure. The New Zealand people at least should have more than enough of the products we manufacture in plenty.” (Hear, hear.) ,
