Hopes of Sir Reginald Tyrwhitt EXAMPLE OF AUSTRALIA By Telegraph.—Press Assn.— Copyright. (Received August 6. 7.10 p.m.) Toronto, August 5. Admiral Sir Reginald Tyrwhitt, who is here for the Canadian Corps reunion, expressed the hope to-night that Canada would consider increasing her present naval force. He pointed out that the Royal Navy lias insufficient cruisers for the protection of the Empire's merchant marine in the event of war. Sir Reginald Tyrwhitt intimated that personally he would like to see the Dominions pro viding, equipping and maintaining their own units. He cited Australia as having a formidable navy. He hoped that the Admiralty would iL the near future decide to build an adequate number of additional cruisers. He stressed the fact that he was expressing his personal beliefs. Sir Reginald was inclined to think that aircraft’s powers for the defence of British cities were overrated, but emphasised that be was speaking as a navy man. Field Marshal Viscount Allenby, who is here for the Canadian Corps reunion, was ordered to hospital to-night, for three days’ complete rest after his second attack of nose-bleeding during the day. .
