KARORI RELIEF
Plans of Committee
Commencing to-day. tlie clothing depot conducted by the Karori interchurch relief committee will lie open every Thursday from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. The soup kitchen will probably reopen on Monday, May 28, to supply soup to men on relief works in Karori and to tlie families of unemployed. The committee expects also to give extra supplies of fuel and to help in various emergencies. In a letter to the Editor of “Tlie Dominion.” the committee states that it hopes the ready support given b.v Karon residents in previous years will be continued during the coming winter, as the needs of many are still great. Tlie stock of clothing and footwear is at present scanty and the committee has no funds. It would be grateful for gifts to replenish the stock, which may be left at the shop of Mr. R. Clark, butcher, 155 Main Road, who allows the free use of his vacant shop adjoining for tlm clothing depot. Parcels will be collected from anyone notifying Mrs. G. W. Guthrie, Mrs. J. J. Furlong, tlie Rev. F. M. Kempthorne, or Mr. A. F Wiren (Secretary), 3 Vera Street. Karori. The committee has no funds and hopes that, tlie residents of Karori wi l ! give it. monetary support, to carry out its plans. Boxes inviting small donarlons are already placed in many shops, and direct donations will be received by the secretary. Regular anil extensive help from the Mayor’s relief fund has been received without cessation iu supplying fuel orders, milk and fuel, as requested b.v the district's distributor, tlie Rev. C. Blair, states the letter. This is tlie main source of relief being given where needed in the district, the work of the intor-chiiri'li committee being 'o supplement it and to help with the clothing depot and the soup kitchen.
