Hislop—Scarfe A wedding of interest took place yesterday morning, when Florence, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. I’. Scarfe, of Raetihi, was married to Thomas Gordon Hislop, of Hataitai. The Rev. F. W. Kempthorne was the officiating clergyman, Mr. Lawrence Watkins being at the organ. The bride, escorted by her father, was gowned in a lovely frock of white angel skin lace, her beautiful veil being held in place by a tiny circlet of orange blossom, and carrying a sheaf of cream roses and gladioli. The bride was attended by Miss Marjorie Davis and Miss Joyce Scarfe, sister of the bride, who wore dainty frocks of frilled cream silk net mounted on pale pink satin. They carried Victorian posies in light, shades of pink. Mr. Neville Hislop, brother of - the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr. Bryant groomsman. The reception was held at the Grand Hotel, where Mr. and Mrs. Scarfe received the guests, Mrs. Scarfe wearing a smart frock of black georgette and lace. Mrs. Hislop, mother of the bridegroom, wore an attractive frock of wine coloured lace. Jackson—Peet A wedding of unusual interest took place at the Friends’ Meeting House, Moncrieff Street, yesterday morning, when members of two old Quaker families—-Athol Fletcher Jackson, of Auckland, and Catherine Mollie Peet, of Dannevirke—were married. The wedding was solemnised according to the usages of the Society of Friends. The bride, who was accompanied by her father, wore a frock of primrose crepe-de-chine made on fitting lines with slight train, shoulder capelets falling over long, tight sleeves rounded over the hands, belt of ring velvet in a deeper shade, and hat and shoes to match. Her flowers were a sheaf of gladioli. The bridesmaids, Misses Phyllis and Ruth Jackson, of Auckland, wore charming dresses of blue and green crinkle crepe, with hats to match, and bouquets of autumn tints. Mr. Aneell Peet, Dannevirke, was best man and Mr. Wilfrid Jackson, Helensville, was groomsman. After the service the guests were received in the Jacobean Room at Kirkcaldie and Stains by Mrs. Peet, mother of the bride, assisted by Mrs. Jackson, mother of the bridegroom. Among those present were Mrs. Crump, Mrs. Theo Jackson (Hastings), Mr. and Mrs. E. 11. Dowsett, ' Miss Lucy *F. Moreland (England), Miss Ruth Swann (Sydney), Miss M. J. The wedding cake was from Buzzards, London, and the bride's trousseau was from China. Both were gifts from aunts.When Mr. and Mrs. Jackson left for the north, the bride was wearing a simple ensemble of apple green. ».’ , * Skilton—Turpin A profusion of white flowers decorated St. Clement’s Church, Marrickville, Sydney, for the wedding, on April 7, of Hilary, third daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. E. Turpin, of Napier, and Vivian Basil, third son of Mrs. and tlie late Mr. H. T. Skilton, of Wanganui. The Rev. Mr. Denman performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by Mr. Edward C. Turner, New Zealand, wore a gown of ivory crepe-de-chine with long mitten sleeves. The bodice was straight and tight-fitting, and finished at the neckline witii cape collars worn to a V at the back. The skirt was,on very full lines with shiring at the back to form a train effect. Her veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of white roses, sweet peas and dahlias tied with tulle bows and white satin ribbon. The duties of matron of honour were carried out by Mrs. Edward Turner, whose two little daughters, Marjory and Jeanne, as bridesmaids, wore dainty frocks of shell pink crepe-de-chine. Air. George Badger was the best man. The reception was held at Romano’s. Tlie bride and bridegroom left for the Blue Mountains.
