Party For Miss Pattrick

A delightful party was given recently at the Truby King Karitane Hospital at Melrose by the hospital staff and the Wellington Blanket nurses, in honour of Miss Pattrick, Director of Plunket Nursing. AIL those in the Wellington provincial area who had hud Plunket training were invited, and'there were between 50 and 60 guests. Miss Clark, matron of- Karitane Hospital, received the guests. The dining-room and living-room were thrown into one by the opening of the folding doors, and both there and in the entrance hall the decorations were carried out with quantities of autumn flowers and foliage. Miss Pascoe, Nelson, the oldest Plunket nurse present, gave Miss Pattrick a beautiful basket of fruit and flowers as a token of love from the Plunket nurses present.

A delightful evening was spent In games, talk, and an excellent supper. Among those present were Miss Lambie, Miss Cookson, Miss Arnold, Miss Morgan, Miss Hancock, Miss Hooper, Mrs. Tythe-Brown, Mrs. Searle (Otaki), Miss Hight (Blenheim), Miss Hitchman (Carterton), Miss-Norris (Levin), Miss Cocker and Miss Humphries (Masterton).

Teachers’ Cabaret Party. Delegates to the education conferences now being held in Wellington took a night off and thoroughly, enjoyed theipselves at a conversazione, dance and supper at the Mayfair Cabaret arranged by the New Zealand Educational Institute last evening. Miss M. E. Magill, president of the institute, was hostess. There was a large number present, and the evening was most successful.

Old Girls’ Dance. The Queen Margaret College Old Girls’ Association held their annual dance at the college last evening. The assembly hall was an excellent place for dancing, and decorations of chrysanthemums and autumn foliage gave it a most/attractive appearance. Some of the class-rooms were .thrown open and arranged with easy chairs for sitting out, and a delicious supper was served in the school dining-room.

There were about three hundred present, and they were received by the chaperones, Miss Irene . Wilson, Mrs. Hutch, and Mrs. A. Johns.

The committee in charge of the excellent arrangements were Misses Marjorie Nash, Edna Hatch, Janie Turner, Gwenda Boyes, and Marjorie Shoosmith.

Bridge Party. Tlie first of a series of bridge afternoons arranged by the Wellington Free Ambulance Ladies’ Auxiliary was held in the Ambulance Hall yesterday. There was a large number of players present and a delightful atmosphere of warmth and friendliness pervaded the comfortable room.

Afternoon tea was served by the committee, which comprised Mesdaraes V. H. Gledhiil. D. J. McGowan. B. Sutherland, C. W. Dixon, A. B. Gibbons, Hislop, Wilson, Nannestad, Wilkinson, Searle, Miss Bull. Those who had made up tables were Mesdaraes Ahearn, Somerville, J. Tustin, J. Gibson, Bush, Hocking, Matthewson, Richardson, Barry, C. J. B. Norwood, Pope, C. Mack, Hunter. S. P. Andrew, Gifford Moore, Hill, O. K. Steele, Chatwin.
