RATANA WITHDRAWING
Wanganui Rugby Dispute
Wanganui, May 9. Notification was received by the management committee of the Wanganui Metropolitan Rugby Union last night to the effect that the Ratana club was withdrawing from the competition this season. “We realise that should we enter at this stage it might cause a measure of dissatisfaction among the teams already competing and give rise to difficulties,” stated Mr. P. Paikea in a letter. “With a desire to maintain goodwill ... we have unanimously decided to stand down for the season.” Tbe letter also contained expressions of appreciation from the club to the management committee for the decision arrived at to allow the team to enter. It appeared to the club that the only satisfactory -way of meeting the difficulty which had arisen with regard to fixtures was for it to voluntarily withdraw for the season, . The letter was received without discussion.
