SOCCER POSTPONED
Association’s Decision Criticised ANSWER BY CHAIRMAN The decision of the Wellington Football Association in postponing all games on Saturday on account of the bad weather is criticised by the Stop Out club, which has written to the association as follows: — “Admittedly the weather conditions were exceptionally bad, but it must be remembered that Soccer, like Rugby and hockey, is a winter game, and ns these two other bodies played we see no reason for the postponment of at least senior and junior fixtures. We again wish to suggest that your committee wait until the Rugby Union makes a move before you come to any decision as regards postponements in future, fle are sure that Soccer players can stand up to all weather conditions, and as our game get.-, it* 3 fair share of ridicule we are of the opinion that a decision of this t-ort is not in the best interests of the game.” “This is a verv difficult thing to decide,” said Mr. W. B. Hicks, chairman, when the letter was read.at the association’s meeting Inst evening. "In any case I think it was n wise policy to postpone the matches, and I don’t think we made any mistake. Furthermore, there is no nee<l to take notice of what the Rugby Union is doing.” Mr. Hicks pointed out that several of the grounds were in too bad a condition for play.
