SHARP EARTHQUAKE
Wairarapa Towns Shaken Dominion Special Service. Mastertoil, May 8. A short but sharp earthquake was felt at Masterton at <>•<> o’clock this morning. Although it awoke many residents the shake was of insufficient severity to cause any damage. Pahiatiia residents report an earthquake of a similar nature at 6.5 a.lll. There it was preceded by a loud rumbling noise which caused a little alarm. Tlie shake was also felt at Eketabuna, Carterton, and in most outlying districts. FELT AT PALMERSTON Dominion Speciai Sehvht Palmerston North, May S. preceded by a rumbling noise, a slight earthquake was felt in Palmerston North a few minutes after six o’clock this morning.
