Labourer Sent to Jail A sentence of six' months’ imprisonment was imposed by Mr. E. Page. S.M.. on Errol Linden Dawson, labourer,. aged 33, who appeared in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court yesterday on a charge of- stealing clothing and other, articles valued at £2/7/6, the property of Maud Bywater. Deteetive-Sergeant Revell said that accused stole the articles from a flat. They were found when detectives later searched his house. Accused. Mr. Revell added, had been previously convicted for theft and false pretences On the application of Detective-Ser-geant Revell, a further remand, until May 16, was granted to George Edward Hill, clerk, aged 18. who was charged with stealing £4/7/6, the property of Armstrong and .Springhall. Ltd., and with wilfully setting fire to a shop and storehouse belonging to that firm. Bail was renewed. George Albert Edwards, labourer and mechanic, aged 34. who was recently sntenced in the Supreme Court to 12 months’ imprisonment with hard labour, to be followed by two years’ reformative detention, on a charge of being a rogue and vagabond, having been found in possession of house-breaking implements appeared on a charge of being found nn. lawfully in possession of an automatic pistol. The Magistrate convicted accused and ordered him to come up for sentence within three rears if called upon. A similar sentence was imposed on William Edwards, labourer, aged 29. who was charged with being found unlawfully in possession of n .22 revolver mid cartridges. Detective-Sergeant Revell stated that accused had recently been sentenced in the Supreme Court to 18 months’ reformative detention for house-breaking.
