Waipukurau Sale Wolpukurau, May 8. At the Waipukijrau sale to-day there were fairly larga yardlngs of store cattle nod fat sheep. Prices of cattle were on a par with recent low values. Sheep sold well, wethers being in special demand. A well-conditlonod P.A. bullock at 415/7/6 topped the market: 8S P.A. bullocks sold at £4/lf/G; three forward steers, £?/li/0; Hereford cows, £3/1/-; good vealer, 19/0; three good store P.A. , steers, £4/13/-: twelve forward P.A. heifers, £2/12/0; sixteen forward wenner steers, £2/10/-; 75 fat lamlbs, 24/8; line I*B fat lambs. 21/S; 3< < fat lambs, 20/10; 38 fat lamibs, 22/7; 12 fat lambs. 22/8; 15 wetibers, 23/8; three prime ewes, 19/0; 30 prime ewes, 19/1; 168 f. and f. two-tooth wethers, 22/0; St m.a. ewes, r. w. Southdown rams, 19/-; 72 forward wether lambs, 12/9; and 28 wether lambs, 14/0. Feilding Sale At the Feilding sale, rbporla the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op, Distributing Co., Ltd., heavyweight lamb's declined slightly, while lightweights and plain were firm on last, week’s rates. Fat ewes and wethers showed a slight firming. There was a good inquiry for ewes r.w. rums at prices on a par with late markets. The demand for store lambs was irregular. Beef sold at par with last week. Fat lambs. 18/1 to 27/.1 : fat ewes. 17/8 to .18/9; fat wethers. 23/- to 25/6; 2.4, ami Gth ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, 20/10; 5-year ewes, r.w. Eketahuna Sale' Mastertou, May S. A yarding of some 700 sheep and a few cattle were offered by Dalgety and Co., Ltd., at the Eketahuna sale to-day. Bidding was very restricted, and most lots were passed in. although a fair amount of stock was sold subsequently. Ewes, r.w. S.D. rams. 13/- to 21/-; woolly wether hoggets. 13/- to 17/-: b.f. hoggets, 14/6 to 17/-; fat owes, 17/7. Weanor .Torscy heifers. £l/6/-; store cows. £l/10/-.

Fortunately New Zealand does not sutler from the “terrible dialects” met with iu England, but some of the singers frill to use the stnndnrd English vowel sounds, and the speech is very impure, according to Mr. Ernest Jenner, a judge in his comment at the Christchurch Competitions Society’s festival on Saturday night. He added that the speech of members of the younger generation in New Zealand was much worse than that of their parents.
