A large and fashionable gathering thronged the salons of • Burlington House to-day when the summer exhibition of the Royal Academy was opened to invited guests. It is the general opinion of art critics tbat in regard to craftsmanship, especl-. ally in the water-colour aud graphic art sections, the works exhibited are of great excellence. In the architectural section there are two exceptionally interesting exhibits, one being a large model of Sir Edwin Lutyens’s new Roman Catholic Cathedral of Liverpool and the other being drawings of the new London University buildings by Mr. Charless Holden, which, when completed, will be the largest work of architecture in London.
