Sunshine and Rain in Wellington The weather in Wellington was clear to cloudy in the morning, ami dull and showery during the afternoon. A cold southerly breeze prevailed. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 46.2 degrees. and the maximum during the day 50.7. The weather was cold in Palmerston North yesterday. There were occasional periods of sunshine, but for the most part the weather was threatening. Though the weather improved considerably. at Masterton. the conditions Still remained bitterly cold. There was a southerly breeze and passing clouds. , Unsettled weather was experienced at Wanganui. Heavy rain fell very early in the morning. The afternoon was fair to fine. Fine weather with passing clouds prevailed at Auckland, but a moderate south-west wind made conditions cold in the shade. The barometer was steady at 29.95 in. The weather at Christchurch was overcast and showery, with a prospect of more rain in the night. The rainfall this year i.s 13.32 in.. compared with 4.35 in. in the same period last year. The maximum temperature yesterday was 48.6 degrees, and the minimum 41.5. There was a continuation of wintry weather at Dunedin. The condition's were very unsettled, rain falling at intervals throughout the day. A light south-west wind was blowing, raakinc the atmosphere cold, the maximum temperature being 45 degrees. The barometer was fairly steady, the readings ranging between 30.20 in. and 30.10 in.
