AUSTRALIAN TRADE
New Zealand Commissioner OFFICE IN WELLINGTON Wellington will be the headquarters of the first Australian Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, Mr. R. 11. Nesbitt, recently appointed to that position by the Federal Cabinet with a view to effecting a closer liaison between the Commonwealth and the Dominion. It is expected that Mr. Nesbitt will arrive in Wellington about the end of June or early in July. Mr. Nesbitt, who will have au as■sistant commissioner, and a staff, will take over the work now carried out in New Zealand by the Australian National Travel Association. Prior to his appointment as Trade Commissioner Mr. Nesbitt was secretary of the Distributors’ Commercial Co., Ltd., of Sydney. He has now taken up his quarters in the Commonwealth Ofltees in Sydney with a view to familiarising himself with departmental procedure. Before he leaves for New Zealand he will visit all States In order to make contact with manufacturers aud exporters and become acquainted with his new work generally. When Mr. Nesbitt arrives in the Dominion, the New Zealand representative of the Australian National Travel Association, Mr. S- W. M. Stilling, will return to Australia. It is understood that Mr. Stilling, will be inter-State tourist and publicity officer for the New South Wales Government Tourist Department. Mr. Nesbitt is a prominent churchman. and takes part in several social activities. The term of his/ appointment is for five years, and the salary is £l5OO a year, net, with an annual entertainment allowance of £3OO.
