GREAT HAVOC CAUSED BY TORNADO
Many Killed in Assam , THOUSANDS RENDERED HOMELESS By Telegraph.—PreM Assn.—Copyright. (Received May 6, 5.5 p.m.) Calcutta, May 5. Details have reached here of appalling havoc caused by the tornado in tbe Sulhet district in Assam on April 30. Already over 200 are reported dead, several hundred missing, and 500 injured. Scores of villages were destroyed and thousands of inhabitants are homeless. It is feared that the death roll will be much heavier in remote districts, as scores of human bodies and those of animals are floating daily down the river Surma, where many of the fishing fleet and ferry boats were overwhelmed. Relief parties have been sent to the affected area. .
