♦ — FIRE AT LOWER HUTT Brigade Makes Good Save Occupied for only, two months, a house owned by Mr. W. S. Higgs Junction Street, Lower Hutt, was slightly damaged by fire about mid-day on Saturday. The Lower Hutt lire Brigade was summoned, and made a good save. . Efforts to discover the seat or the outbreak necessitated the removal of a partition by the kitchen chimney, and the bedroom, at the rear suffered. The exact cause of the fire is unknown. 1 The house is a new one, and is insured. i LIFE-SAVING AWARDS Hutt Valley High School Certificates for life saving were gained by a number of candidates from the Hutt Valley High School at the examinations held under the auspices of the Royal Life Saving Society. The examinations were held in the Riddlford Baths, Lower Hutt, and were conducted by the town clerk, Mr. B. S. Knox. , . The following were successful. — , Proficiency certificates: Willis, R.
