WOMEN INJURED
Accident in Vivian Street CAR CRASHES INTO FENCE Four women were involved in a motor-car accident which occurred in Upper Vivian Street at 7 o'clock last evening. Tlie ear was proceeding in a westerly direction, and was being negotiated up the steep western portion in second gear, when it was found necessary to change down to low. The gears failed to engage and the brakes failed to hold, and the car ran backward, crashing into the fence of No. 221.
Miss Adel Hekin, of 3061 E Avenue Road, Hastings, the driver of tlie car, received shock and scalp wounds, and Mrs. N. Moree, of 8S Ellice Street, Wellington, received fractured ribs and shock. Both were taken to the hospital by tlie Free Ambulance, hut Miss Hekin was able to leave after her injuries had been attended to. The two other occupants of the car were not injured. They were Mrs. R. Hekin, Miss Hekin’s mother, and Miss Kallil, of 24 Courtenay Place.
