Appointment of Staff Many hundreds of applications for appointment to the staff of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand have been received by tlie Government. Tlie bank is to ojien on August 1 and the choice of staff is shortly to be made by tlie newly-arrived bank governor, Mr. Leslie Lefa_ux. Offices have also to be chosen. Tlie most important post to be filled is that of deputy-governor. Tlie Government has already given consideration to this appointment, which is expected to be finalised very soon. The appointment of the directorate of the bank is expected to be completed by the end of April. Since his arrival in Wellington on Saturday. Mr. Lefeaux has conferred with the Minister of Finance (the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates) and Treasury, and lie has also had the opportunity of mooting a number of leading business men.
