BRITISH PAINTINGS
Murray Fuller Collection Mrs. E. Murray Fuller’s new collection of British .paintings and etchings in Sydney has attracted marked attention. The exhibition was opened last week by the Governor of New South Wales, Sir Philip Game, who commented on the courage and resourcefulness of Mrs. Fuller in going forward with the business ideals of her late husband in bringing the artisitc mountain to Mahomet in the form of such a representative collection of pictures. . Outstanding in this exhibition are etchings of Russell Flint, said to be the finest shown in Sydney for many years. Among these were some charming; Greek and Italian subjects, while “The Spanisli Christening” was delb cutely sensitive in feeling. Tiie etchings also included Whistler’s “Old Woman in Rags.” There were splendid examples of the work of Sir D. ?. Cameron, James M-cßey, E. Blampied. Muirhead Bone. Stanley Anderson and Frank Brangwyn. In oils Dame Laura Knight is represented by two lovely pictures—a landscape and a glimpse of stageland. There are also attractive pictures by Edgar Degas, Sir Wm. Orpen. Augustus John and George Lambert.
