CAR STRIKES HORSE
Twb Men Injured A stray horse on the Hutt Road became involved in a motor-car accident early yesterday morning. It was struck by a small car, which was overturned, the driver and the one passenger being injured and taken to hospital. -The horse’s injuries made it necessary for it to be destroyed. 1 The car was being driven toward the city and shortly before 5 a.m. had just passed the Petone railway crossing when the accident occurred. The driver was Mr. Wilfred Marchant, a traveller, who lives at 172 Onepu Road. He . received fractured right ribs and shock. The passenger, Mr. F. Mollier, of Totara Road, Miramar, a storeman, received a head wound. Both were attended to by the Petone police and taken to hospital by the Free Ambulance. ; The horse, which had galloped off down the road after the accident, was later found with bad cuts. A short time before it had been sold to a farmer in Stokes Valley, and its presence near Petone may be accounted for by the possibility that, having strayed from its new home, it was on its way to its former owner in Horokiwi.
