INKLING’S ADVENTURES —Drawn by Annette Strickland.
Post haste we sent for Inkling to come back, and he arrived all seawecdy, on a gull's back. How we laughed at the starfish on his head and the shells on his bathing suit, but Inkling just waved a lordly hand to the Blots, who hastened forward with clothes brushes to help.
‘‘What’s all the excitement about?” Inkling asked. "It’s the Animal Page,” we answered. ‘‘Where’s your animal?” The Blots proudly showed their collection. “The black ball thing is a hedgehog which fell into your inkwell,” one Blot explained, rather nervously.
"Oh, indeed,” said Inkling coldly and sauntered off. "You must burry up and pack,” I told him. There’s not much time, you know. So off he bustled, still in his little bathing suit, packing busily. But ever and anon he would cast envious eyes at the Blots’ animals, and heave a little.sigb.
At last he could stand it no longer. He flung down everything and rushed out of the door. Presently we beard a disturbed sort of noise outside. Ihe door was flung open and in marched Inkling leading a large rat by the whiskers. The rat looked coy and coiled his tail neatly. This, announced Inkling, “is my animal tor the Animal Page.
