PIGEON RACING
Wellington Society’s Event The second young bird flock race of the Wellington Homing. Pigeon Society was flown from Hunterville (101 miles airline). A total of 97 birds, representing 14 lofts, were liberated by Mr. R. E. Shaw in dull weather, against a hard southerly wind, and the birds had a hard race. The winner, Mr. Haines, is a new member of the club, this being his first success. The following are the first eight birds timed in:—Mr. C. Haines’s Debutante. 3hr. Imin. 42sec., 1; Messrs. Murphy and Sherwood’s Aeroplane, 3hr. Imin. 51 see., 2; Mr. C. Egginton’s Red Chief, 3hr. 3min. 10sec., 3; Mr. J. Perrett’s Red Rose, 3hr. 3min. 15sec., 4; Messrs. F. Couper and Son's Lingbergh, 3hr. 3 min. 32sec., 5; Messrs.. C. Webster and Son’s Flash Lady, 3hr. 4min. 35sec„ 6; Messrs. A. Croskery and Son’s Lyall Girl, 3hr. smin. 35sec., 7; Mr. B.
