‘RINGING THE CHANGE’
Offence by Salesman Dominion Special Service. Paliherston North, February 2. Pleading guilty to a charge of stealing 11/- from W. W. Jones by “ringing the change,” George McKay, salesman, aged 51 years, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Police Court this morning. Senior-Sergeant Whitehouse said that accused had bought a shilling’s worth of tomatoes. He ha_d tendered a 10/- note. He had received his change and asked for the note back. He then handed the note and the 9/in silver to the saleswoman and received a £1 note.
