Tlie value of jade is determined by its clearness and texture. Those who are not experts imagine that a specimen is valued by (he depth of the colouring. it can be mauve, pink, or white. Some of the most fascinating of ancient jade amulets are in the form of pendants carved with Chinese characters signifying good fortune. One such adorned the watch-chain of cx-King George of Greece before he presented it to the little Princess Elizabeth of York, who now wears It dangling from a bracelet.
