THE “MAGIC” MAGNET
This is a little trick with which you can surprise a friend very much. Show him half a sheet of notepaper lying on the table, and then take a magnet find ask if lie could lift the paper with it! Of course,he will say that this is impossible, for paper is not attracted to a magnet. Then you bring the magnet about an eighth of an inch above the paper and are able to lift it up quite easily. The secret of this trick is in the fact that, before you put the paper out, you place, a fair-sized and very bright, needle on the table. Let the needle be about in the centre of the paper and you will know just where to hold the magnet.
