CARE OF THE SKIN

How to Make a Beauty Pack

Beauty treatments have ever been of interest to women. Cleopatra pinned her faith on baths of asses’ milk; the beauties of Caesar’s Court, we are told, used yeast, both to produce and preserve their flawless complexions. Visitors to Switzerland are always impressed with the glorious complexions of the womenfolk, and it is said that for these also yeast is responsible. Indeed, the world over today yeast is an acknowledged aid to beauty... So let us try it ourselves. We’ll begin with a yeast pack—this is considered especially valuable—and this is how it is done. The treatment is inexpensive, threepence-worth of yeast makes a generous pack. First, cleanse the skin thoroughly, then mix about two tablespoonsful of fresh brewer’s yeast to a crbamy consistency with milk. Apply the paste thickly and evenly,, over face and neck, and leave from 10 to 20 minutes until quite dry. (The paste must not be rubbed in). Remove the dried paste with cold water and dash rosewater Or witch hazel over the face as an astringent. After this treatment your skin will look fresh and clear. As a preparation for the evening toilet, after a busy day, it is incomparable.
