PALMERSTON INTEREST
Manawatu Show Association Palmerston North, December 19. Remarks made at a recent meeting of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association in regard to the relations existing between Palmerston North and the association were referred to at last night’s meeting of the Palmerston North City Council by Cr. J. Hodgens. Cr. Hodgens said that eight years ago the council had granted the association a remission of its rates which, at that time were £5OO. This was a large contribution to the association by the ratepayers each year. Cr. Hodgens deprecated a suggestion that Palmerston North would do anything to make matters harder for the association. “I will refute that accusation,” he said, “and defy any member of the association to contradict me.”
