DEFINITELY STRONGER

British Trade Improvement BANKER’S CONFIDENCE ■ (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, December 12. Viscount Churchill, presiding at the annual shareholders’ meeting of the British Overseas Bank to-day, stated that despite various new unsettling factors which had appeared during the last twelve months, the first faint signs of trade improvement noticeable a year ago had definitely grown stronger. Indeed, in view of the difficulties mentioned, the force behind this favourable development must be very much greater than could be measured by the actual recovery shown. Even more reassuring, he said, was that this progress was largely the outcome of regained confidence among business communities, especially in Britain, who had begun to recover from the shocks of the hist few years, and adapt themselves to new conditions. He believed that they could look forward with increasing confidence.
