LAMBING ESTIMATES
Current Year’s Figures HIGH WELLINGTON YIELD An estimate of the current year’s lambing for the Dominion, prepared by the Department of Agriculture, shows that the 17,209,000 breeding ewes are expected to produce 15,457,000 lambs, giving a percentage of 91.82. In North Island, 9,318,000 ewes are estimated to give a percentage of 91.23, which is higher than any percentage recorded during the last six years. In the South Island, 7,890.000 ewes are estimated to have a percentage of 88.14 of lambs, which is a fraction less than last year. Tlie whole Dominion average is 1 per cent, higher than last year, and higher than it has been !n any of the last six years. Taking the figures according to the Mx districts into which the Dominion is divided, much the highest yield is estimated to come from the WellingtonWest Coast area. There a percentage <of 95.26 is expected to come from 3,591,000 ewes.
