HOW TO MAKE FIDO, THE PEAR PUPPY
A nice long pear that has a curly, long stem —some day when you have one, make Fido, the little pear puppy, for you will laugh over him, and find that he is great fun. You will need your crayons and a pair of scissors. First of all, draw four straight puppy-like legs on some cardboard. Make each about a half-inch thick, and draw large puppy-like paws upon them. Then cut each out carefully with a point at top. Next, draw a puppy’s head. It is really
easy to do, you know. Cut this out and make eye and ear and collar on both sides. Then, with a fruit knife, make a slit at the top of the pear and press the : cardboard neck of the puppy into it. In the same way, cut four slits under the pear—two at front and two at rear. Into these put the points of puppy’s fat little ; legs—and there, behold Fido! He will stand or sit, just as you choose to have him, and perhaps you would like ; to give him to some little friend who has to stay indoors. I
