Colourful Musical Romance

TT would be hard to imagine a picture X which more perfectly demonstrates the possibilities of the talking screen than “Kiss Me Again.” the magnificent all-colour screen version of Victor Herbert’s melodious operetta “Mdlle. Modiste.” In- perfect balance, the picture gives sparkling dialogue, the best Techni-colour which has come to the screen so far, lavish sets, beautiful gowns, and beautiful girls. Bernice Claire, as Fifi. the little sales-girl in Madame Cecile’s modiste ship, who longs for the stage-and eventually gains fame under the name of “Bellini” after she has given up Paul, dashing French Army ofiicer, is enchanting. Walter Pidgeon is also highly effective, and gives proof of all that might have been expected from him after “Bride of the Regiment” and “Viennese Nights.” in which he had the leading role opposite Vivienne Segal. His highly-pleasing personality is ably seconded by Edward Everett Horton, who as Pidgeon’s companion at arms furnishes much of the amusing intrigue as only Horton can do.
