Really Remarkable Production
T IKE an Eiffel Tower in a city of tents, Universal’s “S.O.S. Iceberg” stands out as one of the most stupendous achievements of daring in motion picture annals. The terrific thri'is crammed into this gigantic drama of an expedition lost on the vast plateau on top of the world, will stamp themselves idelibly in your mind’s eye, to remain there for years after you have viewed this magnificent awe-inspiring spectacle. Deep into the bleak wastes of tl?e Arctic; deep into the frigid vastness of northern Greenland; on to the treacherous Rinks Glacier—itself stretching back to the North Pole and visited only by a handful of daring explorers —went this intrepid party. Untold terrors beset them. Caught by cold, paralysing blizzards; lost amidst shifting ice floes and hostile animal life; plunged into the icy waters in the heroic effort to
get their story; their very life was threatened a thousand different ways by an ominous Nature who scowlingly rebelled at having her precious secrets torn from her covetous bosom. In this great film one sees the birth of an iceberg, a race between a polar bear and a man,fi the landing of a plane on the slippery sides of a berg, the cracking up and the capsizing of transparent mountains of ice, a four-miie swim by a member of the cast through floe-infested waters, the rescue of the doomed expedition by a hundred Eskimos in their frail kayaks.
