General Business The Wellington City Council met last evening, the Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) presiding. Those present wereCrs. W. 11. Bennett, AV. J. C.audin, L. MeKenzie, CT. Forsyth, J. Burns, 11. A. Hur* gins. If. M. Luckie, P. M. Butler, R. McKeen, R. Semple, C. H. Chapman, 1. Brindle, and I’. Fraser, All existing temporary building permits were renewed for a further period of six months from January 1, 1934. It was deckled that consideration would bo given in connection with the framing of next year's estimates to the erection of bathing sheds at Princess Bay. * * « The city engineer was instructed to prepare plan’s for the provision of additional accommodation at the football dressing sheds at Wakefield Park at a cost not exceeding £250. * » » Improvements are to lie effected in the lighting of Fitzherbert Terrace. Hobson Street, Marion Street, and Trelissick Crescent. * * * It was decided that where desired by property-owners encroachment licenses at Hawkestone Street would be cancelled. * * * Improvements are to be effected at Orari Street as a relief work under the No. 5 scheme when men are available for the purpose. ♦ ♦ * Authority was granted for a portion of Sar Street to be surface sealed at an estimated cost of £2O subject to a contribution of £lO toward the work being received. ♦ * ♦ An access path is to be formed between Rothsay Road and Awarua Street at a total cost of £lOO, subject to a contribution of £25 being received and timber donated for a footbridge. It was decided to carry out the work as far as possible with relief labour. Authority was given for paving and improving work to be carried out nt Sydney Street as recommended by the city engineer. ... In connection with the proposed artesian water supply it was decided that the resolution unanimously agreed to at a conference with representatives of Hutt Valley local authorities held on October 13. 11)33, and already approved by the City Council, should be adhered to. A sub-committee consisting of Crs. Huggins, Bennett, and McKeon was appointed to consider applications for permits to erect buildings or effect alterations and additions to existing buildings.
